Throwback Thursday : When in Nepal // Boudhanath Stupa

Got the chance to visit Nepal last November with my family. We flew to Nepal after spending a few days in India. Probably not one of the most 'mainstream' place to visit, Nepal might be familiar to you as it houses the highest point on earth, the Mount Everest.

I have always wanted to visit Nepal, next few destinations in the list being Bhutan and Tibet or other road less taken by other people. I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference by experiencing something others have not.

Upon arrival at the airport. Chilly weather during a winter afternoon.

My first impression towards Nepal was very neutral. They say a country's airport determines how well a country is doing. My experience at the airport was not pleasant, however my worst experience when it comes to airport has got to be the one in Alexandria, Egypt. Good thing they are shifting soon. However,  the culture and historical architectures in Nepal are unique no doubt. The country has the most number of UNESCO world heritage sites. That explains my neutral feelings towards this country.

On the first day, we got to visit the Boudhanath Stupa, one of the UNESCO world heritage sites in Nepal. Also, it is one of the oldest ancient stupa in the world.

View from the entrance.

'At the Baudhnath stupa, the buddhist shrine of kathmandu, there is, in contrast, a sense of stillness. Its immense white dome is ringed by a road. Small shops stand on its outer edge: many of these are owned by tibetan immmigrants; felt bags, Tibetan print and silver jewellery can be brought here. There are no crowds: this is a haven of quietness in the busy streets around.' - AMIT SHARMA

The stupa is located in the busy part of the city. But when you step into the area, you will experience a sense of tranquility immediately.

Climbed up to one of the rooftops to get a better view.

On the main tower of the stupa are the Buddha Eyes that look out in the four directions to symbolize the omniscience of a Buddha.

Shops surrounding the stupa.

Prayer flags strung across the stupa.

The prayer flags consist of five colours which represent the balance of  five elements.

Settled at a cafe for a quick break

Earl grey tea as usual

That's about it.

Have a great day everyone. x

Valentine's 13

They say if you're with the right person, everyday's a valentine's day

But what's Valentine's day without a proper celebration?

This year's Valentine's caught me by surprise. Didn't expect that I would be receiving a bouquet. How I love bouquets, albeit knowing that it will wilt in a few days. The boyfriend also got me charms to be added to my Pandora, so much love for this boy <3

Dinner was settled at Blu med since other places were fully booked. Food was great surprisingly, on this day.

My forever cheeky boyfriend.

A decent photo of us to sum it up <3

Still can't get over on how pretty this bouquet is.

How's your Valentine's ?
